about

These days the word jig is used by traditional musicians, especially in the British Isles, to mean a certain kind of tune in 6/8 time, but its popular use by the general public, referring more widely to any dance tune, reflects historical usage. I had this remarkable tune from Dan Quinn, whose subtlety and magnificence it would be hard to exaggerate.
